Basic Introduction and Uses of Flanges
2024-06-19
Flange joints are a type of component that is extremely common and widely used in engineering design. They are essential parts in piping design, fittings, and valves, and are also necessary components in equipment and equipment parts (such as manholes, sight glasses, liquid level gauges, etc.). Additionally, other fields such as industrial furnaces, thermal engineering, water supply and drainage, heating and ventilation, and automation also frequently use flange joints.
Basic Introduction to Flanges
Pipe flanges and their gaskets and fasteners are collectively referred to as flange joints.
Application:
Flange joints are a type of component that is extremely common in engineering design and has a very wide range of applications. They are essential parts in piping design and fittings and valves, and are also necessary components in equipment and equipment parts (such as manholes, sight glasses, liquid level gauges, etc.). In addition, other fields such as industrial furnaces, thermal engineering, water supply and drainage, heating and ventilation, and automatic control also frequently use flange joints.
Material:
Forged steel, WCB carbon steel, stainless steel, 316L, 316, 304L, 304, 321, chrome-molybdenum steel, chrome-molybdenum-vanadium steel, molybdenum-titanium, rubber-lined, and fluorine-lined materials.
Classification:
Flat welding flanges, necked flanges, butt-welded flanges, ring joint flanges, socket flanges, and blind flanges, etc.
Standards:
There are GB series (national standards), JB series (Ministry of Machinery), HG series (Ministry of Chemical Industry), ASME B16.5 (American standard), BS4504 (British standard), DIN (German standard), JIS (Japanese standard).
International Pipe Flange Standard System:
Internationally, there are mainly two systems of pipe flange standards, namely the European pipe flange system represented by German DIN (including the former Soviet Union) and the American pipe flange system represented by American ANSI.
In addition, there is the Japanese JIS pipe flange, but it is generally only used in public works in petrochemical installations and has a relatively small international influence.
